Marc Leishman after the Masters, & re-cap of the Aussies at Augusta

The Masters at Augusta National 2021

Marc Leishman, and the Aussies at Augusta

Marc Leishman finished the Masters 2021 on 6-under, tied 5th with new dad, Jon Rahm. In a tournament that was comprised of players representing many of the best of the best in the world today, being in the top five on completion is no small feat.

Cameron Smith also did well, finishing T-10 with Tony Finau.  From CBS-Sports:  "A final-round 70 gives Cam Smith his third top-10 finish in the last four years of Masters starts, joining the T2 from November 2020 and a T5 finish in 2018."

Video of Cam's mighty birdie putt in his final round can be seen at The Age.

Adam Scott, former Masters winner, made the final cut, and when those who failed to make it included the likes of defending champion Dustin Johnson, that in itself is an achievement.

Matt Jones was noteworthy.  From the ABC, at the halfway mark:  "Jones rocketed into contention with a 69 to be one of only 20 players under par in his first Masters appearance since 2014".

Jason Day struggled, and he talked about that freely here.

Marc Lieshman's comments in the video above are insightful. Perseverance is key. From News.Au:  A win was impossible, but he didn’t stop fighting.  “I’m never one to give up,” Leishman said after shooting a one-over 73 in the final round.

From Golf Australia:

"It was obviously disappointing not to put any pressure on Hideki or really give myself a chance but overall it was a great week and my game felt as good as it has for a long time which makes me excited for the rest of the year now," Leishman told AAP.

"It has been an important mental reset this week."  Read more here
