Avro Golf Club

Lovers of both the aviation industry and the royal and ancient game will likely go weak at the knees on a visit to Avro Golf Club, a unique setting in Woodford, Greater Manchester.

The Avro Golf Society is the oldest golf society in the North of England having been formed in 1910 by Alliott Verdon Roe, the famous aviation pioneer.

The course sits right on the boundaries of the Woodford Aerodrome, which explains the club's association with the aviation industry. Do not be surprised if the odd plane flies overhead - it's a regular occurrence round here and the members love it!

The nine hole course stretches to 5,749 yards and boasts a par of 69. It is particularly attractive but is also quite tight.
