Blackburn Golf Club

For superb views of the Lancashire coast and Pennine Hills, Blackburn golf course is the place to go. Indeed, Walter Stirrup wrote of it in the club's Diamond Jubilee Handbook of 1954: "The scene was an invitation, just the place where people could find a healthy and refreshing change from the toil and strife of daily life."

Founded in 1894, at a time when the town was a leader amongst cotton and engineering towns, it has a parkland setting amongst rolling hills. The greens are immaculately maintained and looked after, whilst the fairways are lush offering a real test to golfers of all abilities. In recent years, a new drainage system has been implemented, mature trees planted and new bunkers constructed.
