Functions
Childwall is situated roughly five miles from the centre of Liverpool and is therefore easily accessible from most road networks, making it a popular venue with travelling golfers from near and far.
It is a testing 6,470-yard parkland course designed by James Braid, the former Open champion and prolific golf course architect. Formed in 1913, Childwall demands considerable accuracy from the tee and middle of the fairway and, as such, ranks highly with the very best of courses in the surrounding area.
The course design was based on the recommendation of Braid when the club moved to its present site at Gateacre in1938. Over the years it has undergone some renovations, mainly to improve upon its challenge and increase the overall length.
