Functions
Effingham golf course was designed in 1927 by the distinguished golf course architect Harry S Colt, who was also involved in designing such great courses as Sunningdale, Royal Portrush, St Georges Hill, Swinley Forest and Muirfield.
The course is built on a chalky substructure which allows excellent drainage and is dry and playable even at the wettest times of the year. The wide separation between fairways and the combination of mature trees and arable crops beside the fairways makes a particularly tranquil environment.
The Georgian style clubhouse is a listed building dating from 1770 and provides superb facilities for societies and company days.
