Functions
Formally established in 1914, Green Haworth Golf Club owes its origins to the Rileys, a local influential business family with an estate of land and property. Looking for social sporting recreation they commenced playing golf on the grazing moorland of Green Haworth. Thirty individuals made up this exclusive membership. The early course comprised six holes with the members changing rooms located in a cottage on School Lane, some 400 yards from the first tee.
The nine-hole Green Haworth moorland course is situated just off the A677. Its elevated location offers panoramic views of Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley. The layout of the course exploits the inherent features of its redundant stone quarries with its natural hazards and boundaries.
