Ilkley Golf Club

Nestled in the beautiful Wharfe Valley with the famous Moor as a backdrop, Ilkley is one of the most picturesque golf clubs in the country. It was originally designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie and is a flat easy walking course.

Its beauty must not fool you - the River Wharfe is an ever-present threat for the first seven holes on this tree-lined course.

Ilkley is where honorary life member and former European No.1 Colin Montgomerie hit some of his earliest shots and the club also has former Ryder Cup captain Mark James as an honorary life member.

The 5,953-yard course is a great deal more difficult than it might first appear. Monty, as you might have guessed, holds the course record with a 64, set in 2000.
