Oldham Golf Club possesses a fine course that, despite being short, still attracts plenty of golfers to its tees, no doubt because of the fine array of challenges it poses for them. It measures just 5122 yards from the tee on the first hole to the pin on the eighteenth, but offers a par of 66 as a result of the hard walking you have to do, the plethora of natural hazards that come into play and the windy conditions that often blow across the fairways, and wreak havoc with even the most perfect shot.
It first opened in 1891 and is therefore one of the older courses in Lancashire. It remains as popular a choice with golfers today as it way back then.
