Matt Fitzpatrick seems very much at home in the Alps, leads by two into final round

England's Matt Fitzpatrick put himself on course for a hat-trick of Omega European Masters titles with a third-round 67.
The former U.S. Open Championship winner, who turned 29 on Friday, combined seven birdies with two bogeys and a double bogey on the 13th to move to 15 under par.
Fitzpatrick, who became the first player since Seve Ballesteros to defend a title at Crans-sur-Sierre with his victories in 2017 and 2018, is two clear of Swedes Ludvig Aberg and Alexander Björk and Scotland's Connor Syme. Read more

CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland -- Aiming to seal his place at the Ryder Cup this month, Matt Fitzpatrick doubled his lead at the Omega European Masters to two shots after the third round on Saturday.
Fitzpatrick played the par-4 18th hole perfectly and sank a six-foot birdie putt to card a 3-under-par round of 67. He has a 15-under total of 195 at sun-soaked Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps.
The 2022 U.S. Open champion needs to finish better than seventh alone to take the third and final qualifying place via the World Points List for Europe’s Ryder Cup team. Read more

Matt Fitzpatrick moved two shots clear in the lead of the European Masters as he closes in on a Ryder Cup place.
The Englishman carded a third round 67 at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland to move to 15 under par.
His three-under-par round included seven birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
"I was really pleased to make sure I was in the mix come Sunday because it could have unravelled," said Fitzpatrick. Read more

Ryder Cup hopeful Alexander Bjork remains in contention for victory at the Omega European Masters, despite a bizarre error that saw the Swede docked a stroke early in the third round.
Bjork started the day in the final group alongside former US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick and, after finding the fairway with his tee shot on the par-four fourth, decided to pick up his ball before hitting his second. For the first two rounds in Switzerland, preferred lies had been in play for all golfers, but this was not the case on Saturday. Read more
